Bake the polymer clay following the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow the clay to cool completely. 8 Finish frame Pound 5 nails into each side of the frame, 2" (5cm) apart. Glue the polymer clay spheres onto the nails. Secure the mirror to the frame using silicone adhesive. Attach 2 screw eyes to the back of the piece, 2" (5cm) in from the top edge and 2" (5cm) in from the sides. Add wire to hang (see Preparing a Mosaic for Hanging). Wild Idea I left wider grout lines in this project with the intention of painting the grout.

6 Grout mosaic Allow the tile adhesive to dry completely. Tape off the sides of the MDF panel with painter’s tape, then grout the piece with black grout. Clean the tiles when the grout has set. Once the surface is smooth, buff the tesserae with a clean towel (see Using Grout). 7 Paint edges Allow the grout to dry completely. Remove the painter’s tape and paint the edges of the MDF panel with black acrylic paint. 8 Prepare mosaic for hanging Once the paint has dried, cover the back of the MDF panel with brown paper backing.

6 Paint grout Tape the sides of the frame with painter’s tape, then grout the piece using white grout (see Using Grout). Try to keep the grout level with the larger grout lines. Clean the frame once the grout has set. Remove the painter’s tape. Allow the grout to dry completely. Using a paintbrush with a fine tip, very carefully paint the grout lines using silver leaf paint and let them dry completely. 7 Create polymer clay spheres Roll the black polymer clay into 20 ½" (1cm) spheres. Press the head of a nail halfway into each of the spheres, leaving a hole.
